From 2018 to 2021 Sweet Acres Farm operated as a small, mixed vegetable farm located on leased land at Lohbrunner Community Farm in Langford, BC. We were proud to grow a wide array of nutritious, delicious, certified organic vegetables and herbs for sale in the communities of the Westshore and Greater Victoria.
We are taking a break from running Sweet Acres Farm for now, with 2021 being our final season for the time being. However, we aren't taking a break from farming, and will be joining our good friends at Rootdown Organic Farm, in Pemberton, BC - where we will be putting our heads together with theirs in order to better tackle the important task of growing good food for people in a changing world. Want to check it out? Click the link below!
We will keep farming, however, because it is our life's work and we truly can't think of anything else we'd rather do. Keep following our adventures - with soil and plants, people and food, with Rootdown and beyond - at the links below.
A moment of reflection and thanks from Farmer A.
While Sweet Acres Farm was run as a sole proprietorship by me, Ariella, it was truly a community effort. I never could have done what I did without the help and support of my family, friends, the various hands of the crew and volunteers, chef and grocery partners, and of course, the community of eaters who came out rain or shine to our farmers market stall, farm stand, and who bought CSA Shares. Thanks to my awesome colleagues and mentors and the general organic farming community in B.C. A shout-out also goes to my partner, Mikey, who is a source of un-ending support, dinner, and snacks, and is always out there in the mud or the heat with me when I need it most.
Thanks to Farm Folk City Folk for partnering with Lohbrunner Community Farm Co-operative, and holding this land in trust for future generations, and for all the other important work they do.
Special thanks also goes to the Lohbrunner Community Farm Co-operative, and all it's hard working members. This small group of visionary folks brought Lohbrunner Community Farm into being, and helped me in innumerable ways as I struggled through starting a farm. My thanks to them is unending.
In gratitude,
Farmer Ariella
