The Farm
Sweet Acres Farm is a diversified mixed vegetable farm operated on two acres of leased land at Lohbrunner Community Farm, located in Langford, just west of Victoria, BC. Lohbrunner Community Farm is a 13 acre farm that was graciously put into a land trust by Norma Lohbrunner, and is now held in trust as farmland with Farm Folk City Folk, and managed by the farmers and members of the Lohbrunner Community Farm Cooperative (LCFC). The farm property abuts the 25 acre Lohbrunner Woods Nature Preserve that is held in trust with the Nature Conservancy of Canada and provides key habitat for birds and other wildlife in a region increasingly threatened by development. Being located mere minutes away from downtown Langford, this farm offers a unique opportunity to address issues of food security in a region with a growing population and very little remaining farmland. We are certified organic by the the Islands Organic Producers Association (I.O.P.A.)., and are excited to be here demonstrating an innovative model for alternative farmland management.

The Farmer
Ariella Falkowski has been farming for many years now, in places as far reaching as Thailand and Ontario though with a majority of her experience taking place right here on Southern Vancouver Island. She has worked with and learned from a myriad of amazing farmers over the years, and is extremely grateful to all her farming friends and mentors. She continues to do the important work of growing healthy food for people and communities because it nourishes those around her, while bringing her immense joy and fulfilment, keeping her active and outside more often than not, and because she honestly can't think of anything else she would rather do. To read more about her farming adventures, past and present, you can visit her blog, The Nomad Farmer.
